Full-Time Study

Water Street Atelier
A four year, full time program in Classical Realist drawing, painting, and sculpture.

Admissions:
Applications due April 1. Notification by May 1. Rolling admission possible. Prospective students are encouraged to visit before applying.

There are a limited number of work-study positions, four annual tuition scholarships, and one full-tuition scholarship for a first year student.

Part-Time Study

Evening & Weekend Classes
No application required.
Weekly classes in drawing, painting, and sculpture. New students are encouraged to first take a cast drawing class. Most classes run in 4-8 week cycles.

Workshops
No application required.
Daytime workshops in drawing, painting, and sculpture lasting from 3 - 20 days. Landscape painting workshops are offered in NYC and New Hampshire.

Competitions

Hudson River Fellowship
Application required. Due by January 31. Notification by February 15.
A four-week summer landscape painting fellowship modeling itself after the artistic values of the Hudson River School painters. Based out of Jackson, NH.

Annual Classical Figure Sculpting Competition
Application required. Due by April 1. Notification by April 15. Application fee $25.
Twelve finalists are selected to compete in a 5-day, 40-hour concours to sculpt a 32" figure from life.
First prize: $10,000. Second prize: $3,000. Third prize: $2,000.

Alma Schapiro Prize at the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art
Application required. Due by November 31.
The GCA and the ICAA offer a prize for a 3-month stay at the American Academy in Rome. The prize includes Academy fees, travel allotment, and award stipend. It is awarded every two years. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
